Good news but a bit of a long one today, sorry guys. This was a shot of bunny last night relaxing and being his 'old' self' it's his good side though, when he is facing the other way it's quite a different story. I let him out for a little run last night because I was totally convinced he was improving as he is getting more stubborn day by day! Last night he decided to be a Kamikaze bunny and attempt to jump off the table! It was a futile attempt on his part as I was a lot stronger - then he decided to jump out of my arms into his cage which could have been dire!!... He really has had enough when in comes to medicine I don't blame him...BUT then good news was had today when we saw 'Selina' (the vet) she said that she is (at last) happy with the condition of his eye, it's still very very sore and weepy and I have to keep administering three drops of eye solution three times a day (nightmare) and oral antibiotics (total nightmare) once a day to help him mend even more. She doesn't feel like she needs to see him for another week *yay* but she did say his eye is damaged - for good :( He has a damaged Cornea which I am not at all surprised about as she liked to dig his eye with a metal tong type thing - (it wasn't really that!) and he will have 'blurry' eyesight forever but at least he didn't lose the eye. She said that all the vet's in the practice had never seen anything like it and they were so worried, it is a tribute to his little spirit he pulled through - OK and me, but still. I blame myself though and always will, it's like if your child even hurt itself in the house on something, you would blame yourself. I asked why she thought the eye reacted the way it did and she said the trauma may have moved a bacteria in is head called Pasteurella which is something that all rabbits have. His age was both his disadvantage and his advantage, the Pasteurella is more prevalent in younger bunnies, so if perhaps he had sustained a similar injury as an older bunny then it may not have reacted this way. But his age probably helped him because he is so young and strong, an older bunny may have not been able to cope. So the lesson here is bunnies are not an 'easy' pet. People assume that they are easier because they are smaller, not true, they are complex little things and expensive!!!! Why did I prolong pet insurance?!!! Always 'meant' to get it, nearly £400 later I am pretty sure it's top of the list now!!! So it kinda ended well, and if you are feeling brave here is his sore eye - but don't look if you are squeamish!
As you can see I have set up a separate area for my Xmas journal just to keep it neat here, they are all listed as separate 'pages' and here is page 4! I am sorry for the sombre overtone of my life at the moment, just shows how much crap I have had to deal with this year!!! And to top it off I am so getting sick.... I am cold and achy, it's like my body has held back for the last week so I can nurse bunny :( So I am off for a nap. TTFN
